Las luciérnagas y Lucifer

Si inventas una historia donde hay un héroe y creas un grupo de personas que se sientan las responsables de todo lo bueno hecho por él y por los seguidores de él, entonces también eres responsable de las acciones hechas por su enemigo (el malo de la película) y por los seguidores de él.

Si aplicamos esto a la religión, particularmente a la católica - cristiana, entonces los que profesan dichas religiones son responsables indirectos de las atrocidades hechas a nombre del antagónico del héroe de la historia.

¿Por qué? Porque dicho héroe y villano existen solo en la imaginación de quienes lo profesan, si no se hiciese tal cosa no existirían sectas satánicas asesinando a personas inocentes o no tan inocentes, asimismo, no habría cristianos asesinando a moros, judíos, y cuanta otra religión llegó a casi exterminar.

Todo esto es gracias al fanatismo del ser humano, y por ello se han hecho cosas horribles a los animales que no tienen alguna otra culpa que la de existir en la misma época en la que los seres humanos no se demuestran como verdaderamente inteligente ni pensantes, prueba de ello son los gatos negros, perros negros, serpientes y demás animales quemados en la hoguera acusados de brujería, de ser el diablo mismo, o de ser un vehículo para su escape, recordemos que en Hungría, cuando se mataba a una bruja, se debía asesinar a cuanto gato y perro negro estuviera cerca porque en esos animales escapaba el diablo, demonio, vampiro o cualquier otra invención de la pobre mente humana iletrada.

También gracias a ello, algunas palabras han caído en lo nefando, es decir, en lo que se puede hablar en voz alta, o que provoca reacciones negativas ante cierto tipo de gente. Una de esas palabras es lucifer.

Lucifer viene del latín lux y fero, que significan luz y llevar, respectivamente. ¿Por qué se asoció ese nombre al villano de los cristianos? Seguramente no por un acto de extrema inteligencia del ser humano.

Lucifer, por otro lado, para los científicos y naturalistas es, lo que debería ser, lo relacionado a la luz, y es por ello que se le adjuntó el nombre "luciferina" al pigmento químico que tienen las luciérnagas, y que produce luz después de reaccionar  con la enzima luciferasa y el oxígeno.

Las luciérnagas, cabe mencionar, destellan en la oscuridad para atraer al sexo opuesto, como mujeres con maquillaje u hombres con auto deportivo, solo que cada especie de luciérnaga tiene su propio "código" centelleante para conseguir pareja, por lo que destellos con un código diferente a la especie de alguna luciérnaga serán completamente ignorados por la misma.

De eso mismo se vale la hembra del género Photuris, pues imita el código de la hembra del género Photinus y cuando un macho de la última especie mencionada se acerca a ella, es devorado.

Dicho comportamiento puede ser fruto de millones de años de evolución, habría que esperar algunos otros para ver si los machos del género Photinus aprenden a evitar mortal peligro.

La gran rata

Los vencedores escriben la historia, pero un caso extraño fue Estados Unidos que, en la segunda guerra mundial su desempeño fue muy inferior al de Inglaterra y Rusia, a tal grado que en el desembarco de Normandía estuvieron a punto de perder sus posiciones por una pésima organización de los bombarderos, paracaidistas y soldados en la costa. Y claro está, fue la causa indirecta de millones de muertes en seres humanos a causa de la peste que portan sus pulgas, tal como la de 1348 que durante 3 años acabaron con unos 25 millones de seres humanos en Europa. En contraste, en el laboratorio son usados para probar nuevos medicamentos que a su vez, salvarán millones de vidas.

Es poco probable que se exterminen las ratas o tan siquiera se les contenga, puesto que un pareja puede procrear hasta 15,000 descendientes en tan solo un año.

Muchos consideran a la rata, junto con la cucaracha, los herederos universales del planeta.
